Argentina
Argentina is located in the Southern
part of South America, bordering the South Atlantic Ocean, between
Chile and Uruguay.The total area of this great Latin American
country is approximately 2,766,890 sq. Its coastline totals 4,989
km and the border it shares with five other countries, is approximately
9,665 km. The border is shared with Bolivia (832 km), Brazil (1,224
km), Chile (5,150 km), Paraguay (1,880 km), and Uruguay (579 km).
Argentina is the second-largest country in South America (after
Brazil); strategic location relative to sea lanes between South
Atlantic and South Pacific Oceans (Strait of Magellan, Beagle
Channel, Drake Passage) The climate in Argentina varies throughout
the country, with mostly a temperature climate, being arid in
southeast, and sub Antarctic in the southwest. The country's terrain
is made up of rich plains of the Pampas in the northern half,
flat to rolling plateau of Patagonia in the south, and rugged
Andes along the western border. Elevation extremes range from
the lowest point (Salinas Chicas) 40 m below sea level, to the
highest point (Cerro Aconcagua) 6,962 m above sea level. As of
1993 Argentina had many natural resources, including, fertile
plains of the pampas, lead, zinc, tin, copper, iron, ore, manganese,
petroleum, and uranium. The land was broken out in the following
percentiles, 9% arable land; 1% permanent crops; 52% permanent
pastures; 19% forests and woodland; and 19% other
