Location

Venezuela is on the northern coast of South America, with Colombia in the west, Guyana in the east and Brazil to the south.

Geography

The geographical coordinates are 8 00 N, 66 00 W.

AVenezuela is the 33rd largest country in the world, with a total area of 916,445 sq. km. The northern coastline of approximately 2,800 km also includes a number of islands situated in the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

Climate

With a varying climate depending on which part of the country you are in, Venezuela offers anything from tropical humidity through to alpine climates.

Terrain

Venezuela is home to the north eastern extensions of the Andes mountains. It is also home to the mountain Pico Bolivar which stands at 4,979 metres and is the highest point in Venezuela. The world’s highest waterfall Angel Falls, standing at 979m is also situated in this great South American country.

Resources

Natural gas, petroleum, gold, iron ore and other minerals are Venezuela’s significant natural resources.
