BRAZIL EXPLORER

23 Days Exploring the Wonders of Brazil

We start the tour in stunning and vibrant Rio de Janeiro.

Spectacular views from the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer statue, plus time to watch people on the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. See Rios botanical gardens with over 8000 plant species.
We head inland to see birds and animals familiar with the Atlantic Rainforest, and then contrast this with flora and fauna of the Savanna. Due to the characteristics of its plant cover it is relatively easy to spot the regional fauna, such as Pampa Deer, White Lipped Peccaries, Armadillos and Anteaters. And in the lowlands we should encounter Capybara, black and gold Howler Monkeys and possibly even Jaguar.

Many birds may also be seen including the big beaked beautifully coloured Toucans, Tinamous, Rheas, Crested Seriemas, Sparrow Hawks, Falcons, Bare Faced Curassow, Buff-Necked Ibis, Ducks, Egrets, Falcons, Great Blue Heron, Rhea, Hawks, Horned Screamer, Jabirus, Large Billed and Lesser Seed Finch, Macaws, Parakeets, Parrots, Pintails, Red Winged Tinamou and Wood Storks. To round out the experience we have even included a night tour observing the nocturnal environment, when animals normally hidden during the day, can be seen.

Fly into the heart of the Amazon – Manaus and stay at its famous Tropical Hotel. Experience the ‘meeting of the waters’ where the two rivers meet – Negro and Amazon. Visit its amazing Opera House. We fly down the length of the Amazon to Belem a lively and absorbing city with a unique culture. Visit the Ilha de Marajo island at the month of the Amazon (larger than Switzerland) where we stay on a ranch, wonderful bird life and animals.

Then to the African soul of Brazil – Salvador a colonial gem. We end the tour in Iguacu – the worlds largest waterfall.
