Amazon River Adventure

The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests, and comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world. We travel into the heart of the Amazon from it’s tributaries in Peru to Belem on the Atlantic Coast. See the incredible variety of animals and plants, have unforgettable encounters with people of fascinating Indian cultures that live in and around the river.From Iquitos to the borders of Peru, Colombia & Brazil, you will discover the incredible animals and vegetal biodiversity of the tropical rainforest and meet with local communities. 

Spend 2 days in Leticia, a bustling friendly place where people gather daily from the surrounding 
areas, deep in the rainforest and far up the rivers to sell their produce.We then take a regular passenger ferry boat for the journey down river to Manaus . Manaus, capital of Amazonas, is located in the middle of the Amazon forest. In the early years of the 20th century the city of Manaus, became very wealthy and the most important cultural centre in the Northern Region of Brazil. The old rubber barons dreamed of transforming it into a European style city and called it "the Paris of the Tropics. Explore the region with its flora and fauna aboard our 
comfortable small motor cruiser.


We continue our journey by ferry boat to Santarém in the lower Amazon, which is midway between 
Manaus and Belém. Santarem is a small, quaint and typical Amazonian city, bordered by the Amazon and Tapajós rivers. Alter do Chão, 30km from Santarém is a beach resort by the Tapajós River. The resort’s beauty is attracting attention of visitors from all parts of the world. A further ferry journey down river brings us to Belém, which has around 1.5million inhabitants and is the economic center of the northern region and capital of the mineral rich state of Pará. Spend 2 days exploring Belem. Throughout the trip you will be accompanied by our specialist Amazon Tour Leader - Ed Hudson. Ed has been guiding tours in South America for the past 25 years and has accompanied numerous expeditions up the Amazon.
