Ecuador Amazon Dual Experience

Day 1   Quito - Coca - Napo Cultural Centre Lodge

Depart Quito; take a 30 minute flight over the eastern Andes mountain range to the jungle city of Coca. You´ll be transferred from the airport to the river port where you will embark on a two and a half hour journey up the Napo River to Yachana Lodge, on a comfortable, covered motorized canoe.  

Dependant on the weather conditions the ride to the hotel could be also by private vehicle.  Lunch will be provided during your journey to the lodge.

On arrival, you will receive a warm welcome from the staff and a refreshing welcome drink.  Afternoon Kayak excursion to  discover birds and mammals   Enjoy a traditional typical  dinner .

Day 2   Napo Cultural Centre-Napo Wildlife Centre

Early  morning  ceremony to share one of the ancient customs of the Kichwa culture.After breakfast, take a visit to the 36m high canopy tower.Get a good sample of the 567 species in the area  . Then transfer to the Napo Wildlife Centre  for a typical Ecuadorian lunch

During the afternoon hike through the tropical rain forest  . Dinner at the lodge 

Day 3   Napo Wildlife Centre

Wake up early to reach the best and most easily accessible parrot clay licks in Ecuador, located approximately 1 hour away from the lodge.  Guests arrive just before parrot activity kicks off at the clay lick between 7:30 to 8:30.  A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen depending on weather conditions.

Later, hike along a forest trail to visit the Kichwa community of Añangu and spend time with a family to share in their activities.  Return to the creek and hike through the forest for about 30 minutes until we arrive to the second parrot clay lick where, if the weather conditions are fine, we will be able to find different species of parrots, parakeets and macaws.   Lunch will be provided at the parrot clay lick observatory.  Later in the afternoon we will arrive back at the lodge and have time to rest before dinner.

Day 4   Rainforest Hike - Napo Wildlife Centre

In the morning, hike along a primary forest trail to discover the forest interior where you will probably spot lizards, colourful manakins or the unique and endemic Golden-­mantle tamarin monkeys.  Back to the lodge  for  lunch.This afternoon, explore the lake and creeks by dug-out canoe where you’re almost sure to see a Giant Otter family along the way.

Day 6  Napo Wildlife Centre - Coca - Quito

After an early breakfast, depart on the final excursion canoeing back to the Napo River, along the way enjoying new sightings of Giant Otters, Monk Saki monkeys or many other rare birds.  We’ll take a short break at the docking area and then embark on the motorized canoe for the 2-hour return trip to Coca where you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight back to Quito.
